Okay. I just read The Hunger Games this past week, and I want to make a few comments about it.
I am not found of present tense writing, however, Suzanne Collins did an amazing job with it. I’ve read her previous series, The Underland Chronicles, which are third person, and I actually believe that the form of prose is better and flows with greater smoothness in The Hunger Games.
The story was intriguing, and, while I was a fan of post-apocalyptic stories before, I am even so now. The way she uses a dystopian and helpless society is really quite… well, amazing.
I don’t really have anything bad to say. My biggest thing would be the present tense writing, but, hey, it works, and that’s something I myself need to work on.
I’m looking forward to reading Catching Fire and Mockingjay when I get the chance.
I wanted to see what the big to do was about, and well, I am a fan now myself.
